Showcasing Melanau’s Delicacies At Wat Academy On July 15

MIRI, TUESDAY: A Culinary Demo and Dialogue featuring popular Melanau delicacies including linut, tumpik and umai will be back here again.

Backed by popular demand, the event will be held on July 15 from 2.00 p.m. at the WAT Academy here and will be organised by Yayasan Perpaduan Sarawak with its partner, MYY Living Arts, Tuyang Initiative, and WAT Academy.

This programme aims to bring diverse communities together to learn about different local traditional culinary and the influence of their cultures in its cooking.

It is also expected to inspire culinary experiences and the appreciation for traditional Melanau food among the audience aside from promoting the dialogue, discovery, mastery and giving innovation for Sarawakian local delicacies.

A Spokesman from the Organising Committee said today that one of the dishes would certainly create a unique twist in considering if Sarawakian traditional foods can be modernise while retaining its originality in flavour, presentation, and experience.

The programme, open to members of the public and with a free entrance, will give audience not only get to watch the traditional food showcase but also to experience firsthand its preparation.

The event will also be live-streamed on the Facebook pages of Yayasan Perpaduan Sarawak and MYY Living Arts.
